I Must be a Fruitcake

Years ago my brothers and sisters had a system that we rotated names for giving each other Christmas gifts. Every seven years Wayne would have your name. And he would always send a fruitcake. He sent one to mom every year for awhile, too, and she loved it. It became a standing joke, however, with the brothers and sisters, teasing the one who was going to get the fruitcake. One year it was Di's turn. She sent out little baby announcements to us that year saying things like "It has arrived" and "Weighing in at 4 lbs, 6 oz." and "Very sweet" etc. It was too funny.

Well, I'm not ashamed to say that I love fruitcake. Roy does too. The little colorful fruits, raisins, and nuts....its a party in your mouth! I was always glad when it was my turn to get the fruitcake. He found a wonderful place to have them sent from and they were so yummy. It makes me want to go out to the Wonder Bread store and get some fruitcake right now!

Myrna, you are a fruitcake! Mom makes an applesauce one that is very good, though. She and Dad delivered them to friends along with some other candy that she made every year. Those were the days.....
